Although charging the vape battery is a relatively easy process, there are still some things you need to keep in mind. In order to increase the lifespan of your vape battery, you should charge your vape device properly. In this article, we will tell you everything you need to know.

How to charge your vape device properly?

There is a range of vape models on the market. Whatever type you use, the first thing you need to do is identify whether your vape device uses an internal battery (built-in battery) or an external battery (removable battery). The battery type will change the charging process.

Internal Battery

Step 1: Connect Your Vape Device to the Charger

Most vape devices use an inbuilt lithium-ion battery and come with a micro-USB port or Type-C port for charging. Normally, a charging cable will arrive with your vape device, so all you need to do is to connect it to the device and plug it into the socket to charge. They usually have an indicator light to show charging status.

Step 2: Wait for the Indicator Light to Show Full Charge

Once the vape device is fully charged, it should show a solid or flashing indicator light, depending on the vape product. The information should be included in the accompanying user guide, so make sure to check it after receiving the product.

Step 3: Remove the Vape Device from the Charger

When your vape device is fully charged, you should unplug it from the socket and remove the charging cable. It is important not to overcharge your vape device since it can cause damage to your battery and affect the battery life.

External battery

Step 1: Remove out the Battery

You should open the vape battery cap to get the battery. Generally, there is a removable part on the bottom or side of the vape device, allowing you to access the battery.

Step 2: Place the Batteries in the External Charger

Once you get the battery, you should place it into the external charger. If you didn’t have an external charger, you can buy one from any electronic store.

Step 3: Wait for the Batteries to Reach Full Charge

Most external chargers feature an indicator light or a screen to help you track the power of batteries. It takes just a few hours to make the vape batteries fully charged.

Step 4: Remove the Batteries and Reload Your Vape

Once the batteries are fully charged, remove them and put them back into your vape. As is the case with internal batteries, you’d better not overcharge them. Thus, you should check how long you leave them in their external charger. Timing is a good way for you.

Step 5: Check Your Battery Performance Regularly and Replace When Necessary

Batteries naturally grow weaker over time with extensive use. You can track their power by placing them in the external charger and noting how long they take to recharge.

If it takes significantly longer than before to reach full charge, you may need to replace your batteries.

How long does it take to charge your vape battery?

The charging time can vary significantly, depending on the specific vape device. It is affected by some factors such as charging current and battery capacity. In most cases, a vape pen only takes a couple of few hours to reach the full charge. If the vape battery begins to go beyond that time to complete full charge, it may be problematic.

Charging tips: Dos and donts

The Dos

Choose the Right Charging Cable - Using a different charging cable to what your vape device came with may bring bad results, because the charger you are using may have a higher voltage than your battery which will cause your vape device to overheat.

Charge Your Battery Frequently - You should charge your vape battery frequently. Because the battery will gradually dry out even if the vape is not in use. The best way to keep the optimal performance of your device is to charge it frequently.

The Donts

Don't Overcharge the Batteries - Leaving your vape device charging overnight can be dangerous since it causes damage to your battery and weakens it. So you’d better not charge your vape device at night.

Dont Charge or Place Your Vape Device on Flammable Surfaces – Avoid charging or placing your vape on a cushion or combustible device and do not expose it to direct sunlight. Thus, you’d better not keep it in your car or on the windowsill for too long.

Don't Leave Your Vape Device on When Not in Use - You wouldn't leave your television on when it isn't in use, so the same rule should apply to your vape device. You need to charge it more frequently if you leave it on.
